Diaper Daisy is now a Mom owned and operated business located in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Our mission is to spread the word to families far and wide of the benefits of cloth diapering.
We are here to help you every way we can in your journey. Starting out can be very overwhelming and having a friend there to guide you can make all the difference. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro we want you to be successful in making a wonderful healthy choice for your family.
I remember first seeing a pocket diaper when I was 6 months pregnant. I didn’t think much of it actually. I will be the first to admit that I was “cloth ignorant”. My first question was “doesn’t poo get all over the washer”? I look back now and laugh at how against cloth diapering I was. It had never even crossed my mind to “try” it.
All that changed when my baby boy arrived. Only a few weeks old and he was suffering from diaper rash. I consulted everyone around me and was lucky enough to discover a friend who used cloth. She quickly showed me that my lack of knowledge was keeping me from possibly helping my son. I spent hours on the internet researching the effects of disposable diapers. Why did I never hear about this before? Why wasn’t this talked about more between moms? Why would something potentially dangerous to your child be so commonly used? Why does no one care how many dirty diapers we are throwing in the landfills? If I would have heard or read any of this before my son was born I would have never let a disposable diaper touch him. That next day I went out and started my search for affordable cloth diapers for my family.
Suddenly I was faced with another obstacle. Where do I start? What kind do I use? How do I clean them? Taking that first step is very scary and can be confusing. Pockets? Fitteds? All in Ones? What was all this mumbo jumbo and how would I find the best fit for me and my family?
Well, that is where the amazing Cloth Diaper Trial comes into play. I was able to try many brands of modern cloth diapers available, for several weeks, and see firsthand what type of cloth worked best for us. It all fell into place so smoothly and to top it all off there was no poo stuck in my washer!
I wish that someone would have been there to tell me how fun and easy cloth diapering can be before I had my baby! I am truly grateful for my friend and her persistence in telling me to stop being silly and at least check it out. Now I feel the need to be “that friend” to as many people as I can. I want to spread the word loud and clear that there is a safer, healthier, more affordable and fashionable option out there. No one should be saying “I wish someone would have told me that” anymore.
Next, I set out to start a business here in Colorado. In my search I was lucky enough to come across Sara with Diaper Daisy. As fate would have it we were just what each other needed. I am honored that Sara has given her baby “Diaper Daisy” over to me. I could never thank her enough for all she has done. Giving another Mom the opportunity to work from home and be with her child is a very special gift indeed. Thank you Sara!

For the last few weeks, lots of exciting things have been going on behind the scenes at Diaper Daisy, and we are so happy to be ready to share all of the news with you!
Our Big News
As of August 3, 2010, Diaper Daisy will have a new owner! Katie is a mom of an adorable boy out in Colorado. She is very passionate about cloth diapers and is so excited to be taking over the reins here at Diaper Daisy. We have been working together for a few weeks already, and I am thrilled to know that Katie will take great care of my “baby.” She is committed to providing excellent customer service and helping Diaper Daisy go on to even bigger and better things! Be sure to be on the look out in the next few weeks as Katie introduces herself and adds some great products to the store.
As for me, I am bowing out of working with Diaper Daisy because of the same reasons that got me into it – my family. Over the last year and a half, I have loved helping parents discover cloth diapers and the options that work best for their families, and I was so glad to be able to provide such healthy and earth-friendly products to you. Business has grown, which is wonderful, but that is exactly why I need to step away. I have three boys, ages 4, 4, and 1, for whom I am a stay-at-home mom. I need to help them to grow and discover the world, too.
Do you have any questions about this transition and how it affects you? Please feel free to email us at customerservice@diaperdaisy.com to let us know how we can help.
Thank you so much for your continued support of Diaper Daisy! Without you, our customers, none of this would be possible. I urge you to continue working with Katie over the next few years because you will love her positive attitude and amazing customer service. She has great plans for Diaper Daisy, and our customers are in great hands.
Our Big Sale
As we work to transition Diaper Daisy’s ownership, we are asking for your help. We need to clear out some inventory in order to make it easier to move products from Tennessee to Colorado. So, Diaper Daisy is having a fantastic moving sale! You can find items marked down as much as 50% throughout the store, or you can go straight to our sale section to see everything that has been marked down. Be sure to check out our clearance and gently used sections, too, as both of them have been restocked.
Act now – this sale is limited to stock on hand and will only last through Sunday, August 1st.
Thank you again for your continued support! Our customers are the best!
Tereson Depuy, the owner of FuzziBunz, just spilled the beans on her blog… FuzziBunz is releasing new colors next week! Let me be the first to say they are fabulous. I am so excited to bring these new colors to you! I will be placing an order for Diaper Daisy bright and early on Monday to get these new colors up for sale as soon as possible.
Each of the diaper lines I carry for different reasons – they are all very well-performing, high-quality products that have proven themselves over time.
Thirsties is no exception. Their products are favorites for families across the country, and I personally recommend their original diaper covers as my favorites.
I also love Thirsties because of the way they run their business. Thirsties’ owner, Erin Kimmett, is just a fantastic person to work with. As she has built Thirsties over the past five years, she has done it with nothing but the best business ethics. Many Thirsties products are made by stay-at-home moms in the comfort of their own homes, allowing them to earn money while taking care of their children. Thirsties is also the first and only manufacturer to have their hemp products milled right here in the United States, making their products entirely USA made.
Now, Thirsties is working to become a completely carbon-neutral company. Solar panels are being installed today on their facility in Canon City, Colorado, which will cover 110% of their power needs. Thirsties will even be able to sell some energy back to the local coal facility!
Thirsties is a company that has proven again and again that they are a fantastic company to work with, for their business ethics, high-quality products, and excellent customer service. I congratulate them on this fantastic step!

HARNESSING THE SUN: Cloth Diaper Manufacturing Company Redefines Going Green
By Dave Kimmett January 28, 2010
CAÑON CITY, Colorado—Among Colorado’s many natural blessings is an almost daily dose of high-intensity, high-altitude sunshine–over 300 days per year. The kind that can burn your skin nastily if you stay out more than just a few minutes without protection, but as well the kind that makes solar panel manufacturers slobber on themselves.
Enter Erin Kimmett, founder and owner of one of America’s largest cloth diaper manufacturing and wholesale companies, Thirsties, Inc. Long an advocate for less-impacting methods of modern living, Kimmett began Thirsties five years ago as a venture to supplement her husband’s teaching income, to find an outlet for her incessant entrepreneurial spirit, and in large part to spread the news of the wonders of cloth diapering, both as a less-expensive means of diapering and as a way to drastically cut down on the environmental consequences of the omnipresent–and in her mind dangerous–disposable diaper.
Fast-forward the five-odd years since its inception, boasting a retailer roster of over 300 stores worldwide, and through all the struggles and hardships that any small business owner witnesses, Erin is still hard at it–the all too common platitude of “being a good steward of the planet” living deeply and with resounding truth in both her life and business ethic:
100% domestic manufacturing – check
Utilizes American-made materials – check
Purchases carbon credits to offset 100% of manufacturing and transport utilities – check
Recycling of all used cardboard and paper – check
100% recycled cardboard and paper for new shipments – check
The next step is underway: to power the entire warehouse operations with solar electricity. And then some–enough to sell back to the local coal-burning utility! Thirsties is presently installing a behemoth of a solar panel array, with a configuration that at full-capacity will produce enough electricity to cover more than all of the business’ needs–11 clean, sustainable, photovoltaic Kilowatts. This equates to a total CO2 reduction of 200 tons, as if Kimmett herself is planting over 7700 trees.
Skimming past the obstacles that seemingly obstructed her path to the sun–local skepticism and regulatory hurdles, among others–Kimmett has never taken her eyes off of the prize, and is characteristically enthusiastic about steering her alternative-energy mantra to solar production. Especially relevant to Thirsties’ ability to finance the undertaking are the present federal tax credits available to anyone installing a solar energy system – coupled with a special business installation credit – in addition to the local utility’s own solar energy rebate program, bringing a $44,000 system down to a more small-business manageable level of roughly $7000.
The solar tour de force is only adding fuel to Kimmett’s clean energy fire, complementing an already long laundry list of green practices which dominate Thirsties’ business model. Who knows what’s next?

One of the most difficult parts of cloth diapering is determining an effective detergent and washing routine. The Real Diaper Industry Association, an association of manufacturers, retailers, and diaper services, has a new online detergent search service. It is so cool! You can find it athttp://detergent.realdiaperindustry.org.
On the site, you can either search for your detergent to see if it will work well or choose different characteristics of detergent to find one that will work for you.
I was so excited to see that Rockin’ Green Detergent is on this new site, too! I have been so pleased with how well it has worked on our diapers, and I am proud to be carrying it at Diaper Daisy!
Hopefully, this new resource can make choosing an effective cloth diaper detergent an easier part of the process.
One of the highlights of the ABC Kids Show for me was meeting Tashi and Noelle from Kissaluvs. Not only are they genuinely two of the nicest people you could meet, but I was thrilled to see and hear about all of the new products they are releasing over the next few months.
My favorite cloth diapering product of the show is the new Kissaluvs One Size AIO, which Kissaluvs referred to as the Toss and Turn diaper. Noelle was kind enough to let me videotape her doing a demonstration of how this diaper works so that you all can see for yourselves how fantastic it is.
The Toss and Turn Diaper is expected to be shipped in the first week of October. Over the next week, I should be getting product images and final descriptions from Kissaluvs, but a tentative product listing has been added to the site. Check out the listing and follow the link on that page to get your name on the wait list for this fantastic new product!
I am so excited to add Rockin’ Green Detergent to Diaper Daisy’s lineup! Rockin’ Green Detergent is made by Kim Greene, a fantastic work at home mom (for those of you on Twitter, you can follow Kim @RockinGreenSoap). This detergent is a option for cloth diapers, and I have been so happy with the results I have seen with ours. You can use it with regular clothes, too!
Rockin’ Green is:
Dye & perfume free
Made without fillers
Free of enzymes and optical brighteners
100% Phosphate-Free
Vegan
Great for sensitive skin
Created in an easy-rinsing formula
A powerhouse on microfiber stink!
Perfect for cloth diapers
HE Compatible

Great for all water types
Rockin’ Green comes in two formulations, Classic Rock and Soft Rock. The Soft Rock version is a little milder for babies with sensitive skin. Both formulas come in unscented and in some delicious smelling scents, too -
I am finally at home in Chicago with my family. These last few days have been a wild and crazy ride, but I am so excited about all of the new products and innovations I have seen and all of the new developments in the cloth diaper industry championed by the Real Diaper Industry Association (RDIA).
I am so thrilled that I was able to purchase a few new lines for Diaper Daisy. I am proud to be adding Kissaluvs to the Diaper Daisy line-up. I was so impressed with all of their new products, especially the one-size all-in-one, the one-size diaper cover, and the Marvel (a one-size fitted diaper). The all-in-one is so new that it was first revealed in public on Sunday and the photo shoot hasn’t even taken place yet! Noelle, one of the VPs at Kissaluvs, is so proud of that diaper and her part in its design and development, and I am excited that she was willing to allow me to videotape her demonstrating how it works. However, it was under the condition that I don’t post it until next week. So, get excited for that. Kissaluvs products will begin rolling into Diaper Daisy over the next few weeks, with the one size AIO and cover about one month out. As soon as I get some more product information from Kissaluvs, including finalized information about color options, I will be posting preorders for those products. More information will be coming on that soon.
Besides Kissaluvs, I placed orders with Cotton Babies for both of their new lines, which I described earlier in the week. I will be excited to see the Econobum and Flip arrive late this year or early next year. I will begin posting preorders for those products as well, so you can expect those early next week.
NAP, the makers of Sleepy Wrap, are launching a new soft-structured carrier called Boba. This carrier is meant to be a transition for children after the Sleepy Wrap, and is marketed to fit children from about ages 1 through 4 and starting around 20 pounds. It is built similar to an Ergo or Beco carrier, but they have actually developed adjustable foot support straps for children so their weight is not pressing down on the back of their knees. It is a comfortable fit, and I can’t wait to try it on with my little guy. The Boba will be officially launching on September 23rd and so we are waiting on official images here, too. It should ship once it is officially launched, and should arrive here at the end of the month. The Boba retails for $99.
Besides these three big orders, I brought home or ordered testers of a few different products to do some first person testing, so stay tuned.
To help make room for all of the great stuff heading to Diaper Daisy, I am having a 10% off sale! Use the coupon code ABC to save 10% on your purchase, excluding bumGenius products. This coupon code is good through next Wednesday, September 23rd.
I am at the ABC Kids Show this week in Las Vegas, checking out the newest and most innovative products on the market to bring to Diaper Daisy. My experience at the show kicked off last night with Cotton Babies retailer training. During the training, Cotton Babies introduced two new product lines to retailers, Econobum and Flip.
Econobum is designed as a basic cloth diapering system for people wanting to minimize diapering costs. It is a one size prefold and cover system that can fit children from approximately 8-35 pounds. The prefold is designed like a flat with 100% unbleached cotton, six layers across, and sewn with fold lines to guide users in folding for each size. The cover, which will only come in white, has a three-row snap rise like bumGenius products do. One row of snaps is used to secure the diaper to the baby.
The Econobum will be sold in two different packages. Individual packages, with one cover and one prefold, will retail for $9.95. There will also be a Full Kit, which will include 12 prefolds and 3 covers, retailing for $49.95. Using this kit, someone could easily cloth diaper their child from birth to potty training for $100. These diapers will begin shipping to retailers in November.
The Flip is the other product line that Cotton Babies is launching. The Flip is a one size diapering system. There is a one size cover which functions very much like the cover to the organic all-in-one diapers that bumGenius currently sells. The cover has stretchy tabs and two rows of snaps on the closure, and three rows of snaps to adjust the rise. An absorbant layer is laid into the cover and tucked into flaps at each end. By designing the product this way, parents of a choice of inserts to use, and can mix and match as needed. This cover will start out in three bumGenius colors: Ribbit, Moonbeam, and Zinnia. More colors will be added to the line-up at a later date.
There are three different inserts available. The first is a stay dry insert. This is a microfiber insert that has a stay dry layer on top. The second choice is an organic cotton insert, which is similar to the prefold insert in the Econobum. Finally, Cotton Babies is selling a disposable insert to use in the flip. It is a long strip of disposable material that can be folded to fit into the diaper. The insert is supposedly compostable and biodegradable, and should lay inside any Cotton Babies product, including the Econobum and bumGenius diapers (so feasibly, you could lay this on top of a 3.0). The disposable flip insert is designed to help parents stick as much with cloth as possible while on the go. Jenn did not have information about the amount of SAP gel (the absorbent material in the diaper) or the absorbency rating on the disposable inserts, but we hope to get that information by the end of the show.
The Flip will sell in a few different packages. Individual packages will be sold with one cover and one insert. The Stay Dry diaper will retail for $16.95, and the Organic Cotton diaper will retail for $19.95. The Flip will also be sold in Day Packs, including two covers and six inserts, with the Stay Dry retailing for $49.95 and the Organic Cotton for $59.95. The disposable inserts will be sold in packages of 18 for $4.95. It will ship to retailers early next year.
Cotton Babies’ bumGenius product line, its tried and true product, will remain unchanged. There are no plans to add snaps to the 3.0 as the Flip now has that option.
Some other changes were announced at the retailer training last night. Cotton Babies will be extending its 14-day guarantee to 30 days. This means a customer has 30 days to try a Cotton Babies product while still being able to return it. Please contact us for more information.
In addition, Cotton Babies is changing its washing recommendations for all of its product lines. The company is now recommending that all covers be line dried. This is because their research has shown that people who do line dry their covers do not have incidences of elastic or velcro failure.
I am hoping I covered everything here. Questions? Comments? Be sure to let me know.
I can’t wait to bring you more updates from the ABC Show! I will be spending much of the day today in meetings with the Real Diaper Industry Association (RDIA). The RDIA is an industry group for cloth diaper manufacturers, retailers, and diaper services. I am really looking forward to meeting so many of my counterparts in person and learning more about the industry. If you have questions about the show, or something you would like to hear more about, just let me know.
